Essential organizational guidelines related to the coronavirus situation

Prevention of Infection

The school will continue to explain to students how to prevent COVID-19 infection:

  • We will remind them to follow a strict personal hygiene regime with hand washing and disinfection.
  • Students must take personal responsibility with regard to the situation (such as not visiting risky areas, not participating in mass events, etc.).
  • We will ensure frequent and regular classroom ventilation.
  • Whenever possible, teaching will take place outside, including the use of outdoor classrooms, visits to local sites of nature and outdoor PE lessons.

School Entry and Exit

  • The temperature of every person entering the school is measured and hands will be disinfected.  Temperature must measure below 37 degrees C for anyone to be allowed into school.
  • Kindergarten children are collected by parents from their dressing rooms.
  • We ask elementary and high school parents to pick up their children as follows:
    • 15:10-15:15 Parents can enter the garden before 15:15 and wait by the class signs (attached to the fence by the road) to wait for their child.
    • 15:18-15:30
      • Grade 1 & 2 children will come up the steps with their teachers and stand on the bricked patio where parents can easily identify them and come forward from the class waiting area to meet the child.
      • Grade 3-5 students can leave the building independently and go directly to their parents (at the class sign) without teachers.
      • Students with permission to leave the school without parents may leave as normal via the school garden gate.
    • At 15:30, any children not picked up will be taken to the after-school club by their teacher. Parents must then ring the bell of the school reception at the main entrance to the elementary school in order to collect their child.
  • In the event of rain, parents should arrive as close to 15:15 as possible and we will do our best to deliver your children quickly, safely and dry (please bring an umbrella).

Masks

  • Elementary and high school school students, teachers and anyone entering or moving around the school must wear masks in the common areas (corridors, dining area, entryway, dressing rooms etc.).
  • Pupils and teachers do not wear masks in the classroom during classes and breaks, or during outdoor play and physical education classes.
  • Each student should bring two masks with their name and class signed inside in a resealable bag for each day.
  • Disposable masks and Sunny Canadian branded masks (active anti-bacterial silver treated) are available for purchase, if required.

School cleaning

  • The school provides disinfection sprays for hands and surfaces. There are disinfection stations with automatic temperature measurement, germicidal lamps for disinfection of classes and in each class there is a disinfection container.
  • Cleaning is done several times a day.
  • Our team will pay close attention to door handles, light switches and other sources that many people touch regularly.

Parents

  • Parents do not enter the main school building and, if a personal meeting is absolutely necessary, they ring the reception bell at the main entrance and agree on the next steps.
  • Parents of Kindergarten children may enter the Kindergarten dressing rooms at the start and end of the school day.
  • Parent/teacher consultations - we ask Elementary and High School parents to use the online consultation hours, or by agreement, a consultation will take place on the outdoor terrace.
  • Kindergarten parent meetings will be held in person in the school garden/ playground.
  • If there is the need for a necessary visit, any parents or visitors in the school must wear a mask at all times and in all places and disinfect their hands at the start of the visit.

Procedure in case of Covid symptoms in a child or adult

  • If anyone has a temperature higher than 37 degrees, they cannot be allowed into the school building and will be sent home.
  • If the child has a temperature higher than 37 degrees during the school day, they will be taken to the isolation room and their temperature re-measured after thirty minutes. If the temperature persists, the parents will immediately be informed and asked to pick up the child. This isolation room will immediately be disinfected and any staff who came in contact with that child will be monitored for symptoms.
  • Any child who has had COVID-19 symptoms or recovered from being sent home with a fever, will only be allowed back to school with a medical certificate of their medical fitness from a doctor.
  • If a teacher has Covid-19 symptoms, he or she will immediately be substituted and will leave. They will be required to obtain a Covid-19 negative test before returning to work.
  • If any students have allergies or asthma or any other existing medical conditions that may present like COVID-19 symptoms, parents must provide a doctor’s note for the student’s school file by the end of September. The school will make the appropriate teachers and staff aware that symptoms may be linked to their pre-existing medical condition.

Meals and Food Service

  • Kitchen staff and cooks wear gloves and masks at all times when preparing and serving all snacks and meals.
  • Lunches - a supervising teacher wearing gloves and a mask helps hand out cutlery to students.
    • Kindergarten will be served as normal by staff wearing gloves and masks.
    • Grade 1: Pre-prepared trays with cutlery are placed on the assigned tables before students arrive. Pre-prepared soup is brought to students who ask for it. Students then line up in masks to chip their card and collect their main course.
    • Grade 2 through High School: Cutlery, soup and all other foods are handed out to students by authorized supervisors wearing gloves and masks.
  • All students wear masks while being served.
  • Assigned supervision duties from adults wearing masks and gloves help with the carrying of trays and speed of service.
  • The use of the outdoor terrace seating area for eating is encouraged during lunch and snack times.
  • Cleaning, ventilation, and the movement of air in eating areas is done frequently throughout the day.

Arrangements for Online Learning for Quarantined or Long-term Sick Children (or Potential Return to Online Learning)

  • Google Meet will be our online teaching platform (for students learning from home or in the event of school closure). We will also use it for remote meetings with parents.
  • Online class meetings for parents will happen on this platform on Wednesday 9.9 and Thursday 10.9.
  • The link with the exact time and process for joining will be sent to you directly by the class teachers via email. The overall schedule of class meeting times will be posted on the school website in the calendar section.
  • Before holding these online class meetings, we offer the opportunity to test your connection, therefore we especially invite parents new to Sunny Canadian to join a ‘demonstration’ class meeting connection test.:
    • Meeting connection test #1: Sunday 6.9 at 19:00 (Czech-speaking host of the meeting)
    • Meeting connection test #2: Monday 7.9 at 19:00 (English & Czech speaking mixed)
    • Link for both days: https://meet.google.com/xvk-awkw-ibi
  • Parents (especially those new to our platform or with new tech equipment at home) need only log in to one of the meetings that best fits their family schedule.
  • Students will receive online login training on Friday 11th September, to be accessed from home. This is to check that the login works only and is to ensure that everybody knows how to log on. The link will be open for 15 minutes only.:
    • 1st and 2nd Stage 14:00-14:15
    • High School 16:00-16:15
    • The link to the student test login session will be given to parents by teachers during the online parent consultation on the 9th or 10th September.
  • Additional Online Assistance:
    • We will also set up a series of demonstration lessons to help parents understand the expectations for you and your children should we need to move back to full time online learning. Dates for these will be set soon.

Sunny Canadian will continue to update our procedures in line with government and regional hygiene regulations and the changing epidemiological situation.
