COVID - 19 6.10.2020 New rules for stage 1

As you will know, unfortunately, the numbers of Covid diseases in the Czech Republic continue to rise and despite of all the measures taken at school, we have not avoided quarantine for a few teachers as well as some kindergarten and stage 1 classes. Fortunately,  in none of these cases was there transfer of Covid between children at school. In all the cases there has transmission within the family of the positive child. 

However, a positive child at stage 1 is a huge complication for their classmates, who have to be quarantined because they have been in direct contact with a positive person without a face mask. 

Last night we learned of the need to quarantine class 3B. We are very sorry for that and we realize that this must be difficult for all children and parents in the class (also with  with regard to siblings). One of the key things is the Hygenic Station asks us is to report anyone who was in contact with the person for more than 15 minutes without a mask must go to quarantine. Because facemasks were not the rule during class time before now, we were forced to send the whole class home and we asked that their siblings stayed home, too.

However, in order to avoid the need to quarantine the whole classes and to make things much easier, we are setting new rules for teaching in school (stage 1)  from Wednesday October 7, 2020. 

1. The maximum possible number of hours will be taught outdoors so that pupils and students are in the fresh air and do not have to put on their face masks. Please make sure that your  children have suitable outdoor clothing and expect that they will  take part of their lessons outdoors.
2. All Sunny Canadian educators will have face masks on  throughout their lessons in classrooms and in common areas, same as teachers at second stage and high school.
3. All students of our elementary school and high school  will be wearing a face masks if they are anywhere inside of the school. This includes classrooms.
4. From Monday October 12, 2020, to further minimize student use of facemasks during the school day and follow Ministry suggestions, our Morning Clubs (7:30-8:30) and our Afternoon Clubs (15:30-17:00) will be outside. This means that those parents who drop off their children early or need them to stay late should plan that their students will be outside playing in the current weather conditions. We also know this may affect when you drop off your children with us, so we inform you now for your family planning. Please plan your child’s clothing appropriately for this extended play outdoors. Thank you for your understanding as this decision is best for the reduced mask-time for all of our children and staff during this important time.
