A Day in the Life of Our School
One Day.
Four Moments.
One School.
A day at SCIS is full of energy, discovery and shared experiences. It starts with a smile and music, continues with bilingual lessons, projects and physical activity, and in the afternoon makes room for interests, talents and student activities.
9:00 · Sharing Together
A Question Opens the Day.
Conversation and Sharing Give It Meaning.
Morning circles help children start the school day in a calm and friendly atmosphere. They make room for sharing, listening and talking together, and they strengthen relationships in the class and the sense of belonging. They also develop social and emotional skills and help children get ready to learn and work together throughout the day.
- well-being at school
- listening to and noticing others
- a sense of safety
- making decisions together
10:40 · Discovering the World
Bilingual Lessons, Inquiry-Based Learning and Joined-Up Thinking.
Skills-based lessons in modern classrooms, laboratories and outdoors develop critical thinking, teamwork, independence and the ability to treat mistakes as a natural part of learning.
- qualified native-speaker teachers
- a second foreign language from Grade 3
- the option to specialise in Junior High
- regular external testing by Cambridge and SCIO
13:15 · Well-being and Movement
We Learn in the Classroom, in the Gym
and Around a Shared Table.
We encourage children to lead an active and healthy lifestyle that brings together physical activity, mindful eating, time in the fresh air and care for their mental well-being. Just as important to us is consideration for the people around us and for the planet we all share.
“A school should not only prepare students for further study, but also develop the mind, strengthen the body and protect the soul.”
15:30 · After-School Clubs and Student Societies
School Doesn’t End at Three.
It Just Changes Shape.
Afternoons here are for interests, talents and challenges. Clubs, sport, music and student societies give students room for fun, depth, relaxation and more shared experiences.
