Cambridge Exam Results were Excelent in 2020
Anyone who has followed the news in the UK over the summer will know that results for Cambridge exams were a major topic and that agreeing the grades for these exams was a significant challenge. Luckily, decisions were finally made and I am very pleased to announce that Sunny Canadian students performed not only ‘well’, but ‘exceptionally’ in all of their Cambridge examinations and assessments this year.
As with every year, of course, there are highlights. First and foremost were our AS Level results, with 100% of students scoring an A in their chosen subjects. We should massively congratulate these students for first rate achievements in the toughest of conditions. Almost equally successful were all of our students who took IGCSEs this summer, with 100% of students recording a passing grade A-C in every subject and an amazing 76% of students receiving one or more A grades. Students also achieved a record number of A* grades, following moderation by Cambridge International.
Elsewhere, we had exceptional results in our other Cambridge tests. More students than ever before scored B1 or B2 in the various year end English language tests and FCE outcomes were some of the best we have ever seen.
All of this was achieved despite months of online learning, the stress of a global health crisis and having to wear masks everywhere for weeks.
All of this tells us two important things about Sunny Canadian. Firstly that we have exceptional, hard working students, who applied themselves to their studies despite adverse learning conditions. The second is that our teaching staff are first rate educators who can get the best out of students in the most challenging circumstances. We are genuinely proud of everything that they have achieved and, as the new Vice Principal for second stage and high school international studies, I can see that I have lots to look forward to in terms of success and achievement in the future.
